Boston Acoustics’ new Horizon i-DS2 iPod speaker system, shown at the just-wrapped up CEDIA EXPO in Denver, is now available north of the border for $199.99. The stylish system boasts dual, 3 ½” full-range speakers that supply 60 watts of power, and an acoustically-tuned chamber that the company says helps output “maximum bass response”.
Finished in either glossy black or white with a perforated metal front grille, the i-DS2 can also connect to other music players via an auxiliary input. The iPod dock also charges the player while it’s inserted. Using the included mini remote, you can control the iPod from afar.
It comes with a composite video output for watching videos from a video-capable iPod on a big-screen TV, and a USB port for connecting to a PC and playing back tunes from the iTunes music service.
Keen readers will recall the new “Play Smart” brand strategy and tagline that Boston Acoustics launched last year, and that focuses on appealing to the customizable look that consumers like, not just acoustic performance. Given this, the i-DS2 will, like all other products in the “Play Smart” Horizon line, feature interchangeable, coloured speaker grilles so that customers can match the system to the room’s decor.
